Welcome to the ingathering of God's people.  We come together seeking the truths of God's unconditional love for all people regardless of age, sex, race, nationality, sexual orientation, or other barriers humankind constructs to that love.  We gather as a Celebrating and Worshipping Community freed from the burdens of guilt and shame through the action of God's grace in our lives.  Let us praise God together as we seek personal and community response to that loving God who was revealed to us uniquely through Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ.

Pastor's Ponderings

Hi!  I am Nevin, pastor of MCC Ocala.  People often ask what kind of church are you?  It is difficult at times to describe what kind of church we MCC Ocala is.  Among the nature of who we are that I truly appreciate is that of being bearers of the good news of God's unconditional love rather than the "protectors of God, and judges of others".  We are a gathering of people who want to learn of God's love, and in learning move to a place of having a life guided by that love as we reach out to that God of love in loving created order among which are we and our brothers and sisters.  We are a church that embraces all of God's children...we reach out with special ministry to the Lesbian/Gay/Trans-gendered/Bisexual community and others who truly want to know and respond to the God of love as seen in the Old and New Testaments.  Anyone who is struggling with "religion" and "their lives" are invited to join with us and to meet with me to hear about God's love without being negatively judged for who they presently are.  There is joy in God's love.  Come and explore and learn what that can really mean in each one of our lives!

MCC Ocala's History

On March 4, 1999, MCC Ocala was born.  Trinity MCC of Gainesville was the "mother church" for MCC Ocala.  MCC Ocala was known as Trinity MCC of Ocala until it was changed early in the year of 2002 to the shortened "MCC Ocala." Under the leadership of Rev. Paul Whitning, Pastor of Trinity MCC of Gainesville, and the dedicated work of two Ocala women, Marge Sythe and Nancy Dotson, the group moved forward in plans for an outreach work in Ocala.

In 2001, Rev. Nevin Wertenberger was appointed as Associate Pastor of Trinity MCC Gainesville with his primary focus being the Ocala outreach work.  Under his leadership, the church began meeting every Sunday evening in 2002.    At the beginning of 2002 the MCC Ocala was recognized as a church in full standing with UFMCC under Rev. Wertenberger as their first pastor.

Today, the church continues to grow with Sunday morning services, Sunday evening services, Wednesday night bible study, and various Outreach Groups.
